vintage envelopes.

Even though we have moved into my grandparents house, there are still some things that I am working on going through. My mama was a collector of many things, but my favorite collection was her stamp collection! I was going through a notebook and found these envelopes shoved inside.
I was so excited to find these! I think they are so classic and just plain perfect. I especially like the western americana ones as I am about to go on a covered wagon camping trip with my husband, best friend and her husband next month.

I am debating what I should do with them. Any ideas?

received with love.

Zach has been very good about sending me letters while he has been gone. It is always a great mail day when I get a letter from him in my mailbox!
Before Zach left for his trip, my mom gave him a box of homemade notecards (shown top left and bottom right) and a sheet of stamps. Those were the first two letters from him that I received.

The postcard on the top right is of the late Jesse James. Did you know that the last bank that him and his gang tried to rob is in Northfield, MN? They have since turned the bank into a museum where he picked up this great postcard!

The postcard on the bottom left is of a building on the campus of St. Olaf College where he is doing his fellowship. What a beautiful campus!

sent with love.

I sent out a few letters and two fun little packages this week!

I have a new pen pal, so I was excited to send her a letter to start our letter writing. And I always love writing my family in SC since I don't see them as often as I would like. I also put together a couple small little packages to two of my pen pals that I am excited for them to receive!

Do you guys like my new neon paper tape? My mom got them for me for my birthday! I love them so much and they match my new neon sharpies and pens perfectly.

p.s. what have you sent with love this week?

fact:

Stamp gum can be the most valuable commodity on earth-more precious than diamonds. Collectors have been willing to pay a king's ransom for rare stamps with undamaged original gum.

stuff in envelopes.

Have you heard about the Stuff in Envelopes website?
I read about it on the Paper Pastries blog that I pretty much read daily.

You fill out a form with your name and address, tell them a topic you want a letter on and they send you a fun letter in the mail for free! If you can't think of a topic, they will pick one for you. I requested a letter last week on the topic "Mail Art"!

p.s. I'll let you know when I get my letter in the mail!

purple mailbox.

This weekend my mom and I decided to go to one of our favorite places ever... Ocean City, MD! We had a great little weekend away enjoying the boardwalk and eating blue crabs and funnel cakes until we popped! On the way into Ocean City we stopped into this small town Berlin, MD. Outside of this local vintage shop there was a beautiful purple mailbox!
I was really hoping that this beautiful mailbox was for sale, as I would have snagged it up in a heartbeat to put outside at my house or in my office. Sadly, It was not for sale but we did mail some letters we had in it!

box of letters.

My husband left for a month long philosophy fellowship in Northfield, MN last week and I wanted to give him a box of letters so he had something to read from me every day that he was gone! This tradition started back when we were dating and he used to tour with his band a lot. I would fill a box with letters, one for each day along with gift cards for restaurants along the way and snacks. He always loved them, so when we found out he was going to be gone for a month again, I thought it was the perfect time to do another box of letters!

I put snacks in the box with silly sayings on each of them!

I then made a map with silly roadside attractions that were along his route!

Then I wrote a note for each day and labeled the front with the date the letter should be read on!

Then I stuffed the box with all of the letters and goodies!
The finished box of letters!

p.s. I hope you are enjoying all of your letters Zach! :)

One year ago today I married my best friend in a beautiful wedding surrounded by the people that mean the world to us! Our theme for our wedding was vintage love letters and the day started out perfectly with a letter from my husband to be!

national postal worker day, part two.

Yesterday was National Postal Worker Day. Did you do anything for your postal worker?
I decided to write my mailman a little card of thanks and give him a bottle of water since it has been so hot here lately.
I then placed them on the mailbox for him to get when he delivered our mail! I hope he appreciated being acknowledged on Postal Worker Day!
